LFRP are extremely pleased to announce the appointment of Charlie Caney as the new Littlehampton Fort Restoration Project Secretary
Like Jeff, I also discovered the fort quite by accident when I was looking into the history of another local ruin.
Knowing something of the history of the 19th century, and the Anglo-French relationship, I was then keen to learn more about the fort. Especially since I had lived in the nearby area for several years but had never been aware that this old fort was on my doorstep. This all led me to Andy and then to this project to restore the fort to its former glory.
I’ve always been very interested in history and the conservation of heritage assets. I think knowing more about the lives of those who came before us and the history of what happened in the area where we live can enrich our everyday experiences. Anything we can do to support the preservation of our heritage, particularly if it can be ultimately self-financing, is worthwhile.
As for me, I have been a solicitor for nearly 25 years. I specialise in dealing with problematic situations, mainly in the financial sector, but also among businesses more generally. I now work in a Regulator advising on the conduct of legal actions and previously I worked for an investment bank and before that in a law firm in London.
