AGM Recap: Exciting Changes and Future Plans

AGM done!

Hello, everyone! Andy Orpin here, and I’m excited to share that we’ve successfully wrapped up another Annual General Meeting for the project, held at the charming Black Horse pub in Climping. A big thank you to the Black Horse for providing such a fantastic setting for our gathering!

This year brings some changes to our team. I’m pleased to announce that John Rhodes has stepped in as our new Fort Treasurer, taking over from John Howard, who has completed five years of dedicated service. We truly appreciate John H’s commitment to the Fort Project during his tenure.

I’m also happy to share that I’ve been voted in as Chairman and Project Manager for another year and I’m looking forward to another busy and exciting year ahead!

At this AGM, we welcomed Stuart Horne as our new “Honorary Management Member/Golf Club Liaison.” Stuart’s expertise will be a valuable asset to the Fort Project as we continue our journey. Thank you, Stuart, for joining our team!

We have a lot of ambitious plans lined up for the next one to four years, and we’re eager to achieve them with your support. Stay tuned for more updates as we move forward together!

Kind Regards

Andy Orpin

Littlehampton Fort Restoration Project.

Strengthening partnerships for historic preservation

The Littlehampton Fort Restoration Project is thrilled to announce the newest addition to its management team, Stuart Horne. Stuart’s appointment marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to preserve and restore the historic Littlehampton Fort, further solidifying the link between the project and the landowners, Littlehampton Golf Club. This partnership paves the way for a collaborative approach that will be instrumental in safeguarding this important piece of local heritage.

Stuart is the Director of Marketing / Communication at
Littlehampton Golf Club, bringing a wealth of experience and a
passion for this historical structure, making him an invaluable
asset to the team. His role will be crucial in facilitating the
cooperation between the Littlehampton Fort Restoration Project and Littlehampton Golf Club, ensuring that both entities work in harmony to achieve the shared goal of restoring the fort to its former glory.

The connection between the Littlehampton Fort and Littlehampton Golf Club is one steeped in history. The fort, a crucial coastal defence during the 19th century, is located on land owned by the golf club. The collaboration with the club is therefore vital to the project’s success, as it
provides not only the necessary access but also a shared commitment to preserving the local history.

Chairman of the Littlehampton Fort Restoration Project, Andy Orpin, warmly welcomed Stuart to the team, expressing his enthusiasm for the future of the project.

We are delighted to have Stuart Horne join our management team” he said. “His expertise, dedication and commitment to working with this historical piece history will be key as we continue our work on the fort. We look forward to working closely with him to ensure that the Littlehampton Fort is saved for future generations.”

Stuart’s joining the management team represents more than just an expansion of the project’s leadership; it symbolises the strengthening of ties between the restoration project and the golf club. This partnership will enable both parties to pool resources and expertise, creating a robust foundation for the project’s future success.

As the project moves forward, the collaborative efforts led by Stuart Horne and the existing management team will be critical in overcoming the challenges associated with the fort’s restoration. The team is committed to preserving the fort’s historical significance, ensuring it
remains a testament to the region’s rich military history.

The Littlehampton Fort Restoration Project invites the community to join in welcoming Stuart Horne to the team and looks forward to the positive impact his leadership will bring. Together, with the support of the Littlehampton Golf Club and the wider community, the project is confident that the fort will be restored and preserved for future generations to explore and enjoy.
