The extensive Battery and Artillery Barracks, about to be erected at Climping, Port of Arundel, has been tendered for, and it is said the house of Messrs. Locke and Nesham builders, London, were the successful competitors.

The contract for the extensive defensive works for Littlehampton Harbour, which has been taken by Messrs. Locke and Nesham, London, will be executed under a tender greatly below those sent in by our local contractors. The works will be on the west side of the harbour, and, therefore, in the parish of Climping, the river being the boundary between the parishes.

Mr Bushby, the contractor for the erection of the additional works at the fortifications a Littlehampton, is proceeding with the works with all possible dispatch, and the vicinity of the batteries presents a scene of activity seldom equalled in the place.

The paper reports that Lieut. Molineux, of the Royal Sussex Artillery, is leaving on promotion for headquarters in Eastbourne. The N.C.O.s at Littlehampton presented him with a silver snuff box.
